NEWMARKET FIRE BRIGADE.
The remarks made by Mr. Donaldson. Mayor of Xewmarkc-t, regarding the lire at Khyber Pass, call for some comment. Did Mr. Donaldson expect a vMunteer brigade to be there first, especially when half or all of them are away doing their day's work'; I would like to say that being a resident of Newmarket and living ■ear the station, it has surprised n« how quick our brigade has turned out. To-night (Thursday, 17th) the brigade was out as quickly as the city, owing to all the men being handv. FAIRPLAY.
