ST. PATRICK'S DAY.

PROCESSION AND SPORTS. The feast of the patron Saint of Ireland is to be honoured with great enthusiasm this year. A largely-attended meeting of representatives from all parishes in the diocese of Auckland took place in St. Benedict's Hall, presided over by Mr. Cyril Mahoney. The Ven. Archdeacon Holbrook and Dr. Buxton were amongst the number present. The question of holding a big sports programme in the Domain Cricket Ground was dealt with and a subcommittee was set up to arrange this immediately. It was decided to get in touch with the local Amateur Athletic Association, and put on a programme of events that has not been seen for some years in Auckland. The children's festival is to be reinstituted and the procession of some 4000 children may again take place to the Domain, where sports, games, etc., will be held. A strong committee has been set up in connection with the annual concert, and arrangements are being made for a programme of musical and vocal items of the most attractive songs of Ireland by the best artists available. The committee hope to revive the day on a scale to equal former years when thousands used to attend the Domain. The full programme of events is to be drawn up and will shortly be advertised in this paper.
