NAVAL MEN'S SPORTS.
ENTERTAINING THE RENOWN.
FOOTBALL AND AQUATICS.
Sporting events for the entertainment of the men of H.M.s. Renown "have been arranged by the Auckland sports bodies, including Soccer, swimming, water polo and naval whalers' race.
The event that will probably attract the greatest attention is the Soccer match on Saturday afternoon between the representatives of the Renown and the Auckland Football Association. The meeting takes place on Blandford Park and should provide a good exhibition of the code.
On the aquatic side, special events have been arranged for the ship's complement at the Ponsonby Amateur Swimming and Life-saving Club's harbour race carnival at the Shelly Beach baths on Saturday afternoon, and a race for naval whalers has been fixed for the Devonport Yacht Club's annual regatta on the same afternoon at North Shore. Teams representing the Renown and the New Zealand division of the Navy will compete against each other in a relay race and a water polo match at the swimming gala.
