FIRE AT MOUNT EDEN.

. I SMITH BROTHERS' PREMISES. About five minute? 10 o'clock last night a (ire occurred in ihc premises of: Smith Brothers, grocers. Mount Eden Hoad. The 3larra was promptly given, to the Mount Eden Brigade, which was quickly in attendance and presented the destruction of the building. Two rooms were. however. gutted and a lot of ( damage was done by water. Mrs. Smith.: who shortly before had been seeing a< visitor off. noticed a flicker of lipht in aj front room, but thought it was from : the electric light. A little later there was a smell of something burning, and : it was found that the sewing room was in flames. The Mount Eden Brigade wa& at once communicated with and an alarm was also piven to the City Brigade.
