THREE CANDIDATES.

j . WHANGABEI MAYORALTY. WOMAN FOR HOSPITAL BOARD. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) WHAXGAREI, this day. Replying to a deputation of about 20 business men who waited upon him today, Mr. J. Holmes, Mayor of Whangarei, agreed, to his nomination for a further term of office. This makes at least three definite aspirants to mayoral honours, the other two being Mr. W. U. Timewell (Deputy. Mayor) and Mr. D. J. Brake, who unsuccessfullly contested the last municipal election against Mr. J. E. Holmes. Keen interest will also centre in the Whangarei Hospital Board election. The Whangarei borough elects three members. One woman, Mrs. Donaldson, has publicly announced her intention of seeking a seat on the board. This will be the first instance In the history of Whangarei of a woman entering" the field of local body politics.
