SEAMEN'S UNION SPLIT.

SECRETARY UNPOPULAR. CONDEMNED BY MEETING. WELLINGTON, Sunday. Over 100 members of the Seamen's Union attended a meeting yesterday, when resolutions were passed "condemning the actions of Mr. W. T. Young, the secretary, and reaffirming faith in the recently-elected officers. The meeting was convened bv Messrs. Young. F. C. Howell and C. B." Fitts, it being Mr. Y'oung's intention to explain his position to members. Owing to opposition he announced there would be no meeting, but members congregated and he left the room before the proceedings started. A motion of no-confidence in the conveners was passed unanimously, Mr. F. C. Walsh being elected chairman. Mr. Howell, assistant-secretary to the union and past-president, addressed the meeting and then left the room. During the discussion heated disapproval of the three conveners was voiced. A resolution was carried without dissent condemning the actions of Mr. Young in registering under the Trades Union Act in opposition to the Federated Seamen's Association of Workers. The meeting also supported the resolution against Mr. Young and his supporters in other cities? and reaffirmed its faith in the new officers of the union.
