The victims were:— Mr: Hobßrt Brfc#Bj aged 34, married; of 24. Windsor Street, Parnell, Mr. Ira GrSidni aged 23, single, of Tennessee Avehuej Mangere. The harbour fatality occurred at midday, when a clinker-built boat, containing Messrs. C: Anderson, H. Corrigah, C. iarwood, and R. Brown, all employees of Messrs. Ernest and Herbert Craig, Limited, capsized in a strong gust of wind about two miles past North Head. The four men were thrown into the water, but all managed to obtain a hold on the upturned boat. The only other craft'in the Vicinity -was a twelve-foot pulling boat containing Mr. Eric Goldsbro, of St. Heliet's Bay* and two companions who promptly went to the rescue. By the time the upturned boat had been reached, however, Mr. Brown had disappeared. As search was impossible, the overcrowded pulling boat was rowed to Mr. Glass' launch, about haif-a-mile away, the journey being accomplished without further mishap, despite a choppy sea. A thorough search was then made by launch for Mr. Brown's body, but without result. Fatality at Paninure. The capsizing of a canoe was responsible for the fatality at Panmure Beat-h, near Otahului. Mr. Croxon, accompanied by two others went ashore from the yacht Ben McCrae on Saturday evening to attend a dance at Pakuranga. About 1 o'clock yesterday morning Mr. Croxon was returning to the shore in a small collapsible canvas canoe to bring one of his companions to the yacht. Shortly afterwards a splash was "heard and it was seen from the yacht that the canoe had capsized. Being but a poor swimmer, Mr. Croxon was soon in difficulties and called for assistance. Mr. H. White immediately dived overboard from ihe yacht and succeeded in grasping Mr. Croxon, but lost his hold about twentv minutes later and, owing to the darkness, failed to locate him again. The tide at this point runs very swiftly, and Mr. White was carried some distance from the yacht. Search for the body is being carried out by the Otahuhu and Panmure police. Deceased was employed bv Meisrs. Tonson Garlick Ltd.
