OVERSEAS MARKETS.
SYDNEY WOOL SALES. SYDNEY, January 10. The Sydney wool sales were resumed today. The market was firm at last week's closing rates, with a hardening tendency for fine sorts. Demand was general in all sections, and Japanese and American buyers were particularly active. CHICAGO WHEAT MARKET. (Received 9.30 a.m.) CHICAGO, January 10. Chicago wheat for May delivery is quofed at $1.38% per bushel, and for July at $1.29%. LONDON WOOL SALES. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house, dated 10th inst.:— Wool Sales.—The list of arrivals closed on 10th. Quantity available: Cape, 1500 bales; New Zealand, 16,500; Australian, 59,500 bales; South American, 2500 bales; carried forward, 40,000 bales. FROZEN MEAT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency advise having received the following cable from London;— New Zealand lamb average 9 l-8d per lb; mutton, wether and maiden ewe, light 6%d per lb, heavy 6%d per lb; ewe. light 4 5-8 d per lb, heavy 4 3-8 d per lb. Market slow.
