VERDICT OF SUICIDE.
MONEY AND BAG STILL MISSING. OLD GUMFIELD MYSTERY. At the adjourned inquest yesterday afternoon concerning the death of Charles Robert Hewett, aged 63, of Cambridge, whose body was found on December 3 in an old gumfield beyond Milford, the coroner, Mr. F. K. HHunt, S.M., returned a verdict of suicide by shooting on or about October 2. Constable Wood stated that the body when found was fully clothed, the garments inchiding a raincoat. The gun waa lying beneath the body. One barrel had been fired and the other was loaded and at full cock. Death had occurred quite two months previously. No trace of the movements of deceased after October 1 have been found. When he left home he had £200 in banknotes and a portmanteau. .Neither have been found.
