CHRISTMAS GIFTS.

TO HOSPITAL KIDDIES. 1 i BUDGET GETS CONTRIBUTIONS, i "Do unto others as you would that they should do unto you." Truly the "Budget"' girls who have so nobly responded to the call sent out by WEXDY for Christmas cheer for the sick hospital children have carried out in their actions the wonderful spirit embodied in the beautiful words above. In the column below appears a list oi the children who have sent in vaTiou* Christmas gifts for the sick hospital kiddies. Each mail brings more gifts, but as this list went to press on Monday, presents arriving after that date will be acknowledged later. The Editor of the Auckland "Star , sends the following message to all those children who have so generously given these presents: — "Thoughtfulness for others, the willing gift of small things to make others happy, is the finest evidence that we have that a kindly spirit exists among our young people in an age that is censured by writers and preachers for its pronounced materialism. Nothing can be finer than a sacrifice to assist in brightening the lot of those poor boys and girls who are condemned to spend the season of good cheer and goodwill is a hospital cot. Some are in distress and pain; all must think wistfully of the children, who, possessed of vigorous health are able to enjoy to the full the many pleasures that Christmas should bring to the young. It is gratifying that the appeal of Peter Pan and Wendy on behalf of the little sufferers should have met with such a liberal and spontaneous response." THE EDITOR.
