HORAHIA DRAINAGE BOARD.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.! THAMES, Friday. The Horahia Drainage Board met at Turua yesterday, Mr. F. X. Kneebone presiding Mr. E. Taylor, drainage engineer, estimated the cost of repairs to the stopbank from Shelly Beach to Ngatea at £1000. I;t vras decided to meet the Hauraki Board in conference of joint interests. A deputation of settlers in Horahia Opoa area asked the board to honour the promise to provide for an efficient drain area by increasing Te Kouri No. 1 drain. The chairman suggested a deviation of willow drain, but the deputation did not agree with the suggestion. The board divided on the question, and finally a resolution was carried that the board adhere to the original scheme of Improving the Te Kouri drain. The matter of installing electric pumps was deferred pending legal opinion. Kerepehi township ratepayers asked that the drain and outlet be cleaned. It was decided that if the Lands Department handed over the drain nnd the settlers fenced it, the board would consider the request. Replying to a deputation, the cliairman promised to confer with the Hauraki Board on the Wharepoa drainage.
