DEPUTATION WALTS ON COU-TCIL,
The need of playing areaa in the Mount Albert district was strongly urged by a deputation from the Auckland Play Association which waited upon the Mount Albert Borough Council last evening, the chief speaker being Mrs. N". E. Forner.
Mrs. Smythe urged that a swimming bath should be provided at the Malvern Road Reserve, and said that the Progressive League was prepared to assist with the finance.
In reply to a question in regard to endeavouring to secure the use of school grounds, the deputation expressed the opinion that generally they were not ' large enough for sports field's. The Mayor (Mr. L. E. Rhodes) said that it waa intended to take every opportunity of acquiring suitable areas for reserves. The council already had a reserve of I2J acres on Mount Albert, a similar area near Woodward. Road, which was at present a quarry aite. and 28_ acres at Malvern Road. The latter waa under Domain Board control, but legislation waa to be sought so that the j council could spend money upon it. If I the ratepayers would consent,- the raising of money for a swimming bath would be included in any new proposal.
