DAMAGE TO ROADS.

The flood in the Waimakariri River is now subsiding slowly. Latest reports state that the water hag receded several fßet and that it is getting away well. In fact, most of the area that wag flooded is now free from water and all roads are clear.
The Coutts Island Road, which was covered by the main volume of the flood, has been considerably damaged, deep channels having been scoured in the surface of this and other roads, leaving them in bad condition for traffic.
