BIRD PROTECTION.
N.Z. CRITICISED. MORE SANCTUARIES NEEDED. (Received 12 noon.) SYDNEY, this day. At the congress of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists' Union unanimous approval was given a motion urging tiat the New Zealand Government should establish more island sanctuaries upon which New Zealand species of birds now in danger of extinction might be preserved.
It was resolved that the next congress be held at Perth. Messrs. A. S. Wijfejnson and W. W. Smith were elected New Zealand representatives on the union council.
