PRICE OF NEWSPRINT.
"IMPRESSIVE UNIFORMITY." (By Telegraph.—Special.to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The -principal papermakers of the world appear to have arrived at a fairly complete understanding in the matter of prices of newsprint, according to a statement made by Mr; A. G. Henderson this morning.
Mr. Henderson said that in previous years, when the Newspaper Proprietors' Association had invited, tenders for the supply of newsprint to its members, competitive prices had been quotedy -but this year there was an impressive uniformity. The colonial representatives of the pager manufacturers professed to be in complete ignorance of any understanding, and the inference was, therefore, drawn that an arrangement must have been made farther afield than in Australasia.
