HENLEY-ON-YARRA.
NEW 2EALANDERS , PROSPECTS.
(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.")
DUNEDIN, Thursday
The Otago Rowing Club's senior four, champions of New Zealand, will take part in the big race at Henley-on-Yarra Regatta at Melbourne on Saturday. In a letter written on October 12, the manager of the New Zealand crew (Mr. P. S. Anderson) states that its members arrived at Melbourne by the Manuka on Sunday, October 10, after a really good trip.
"Most of us, except Brough, the heavyweight of the party, were shaken up a little for the first few days," he writes, "but we did not lose any chance to eat by the time we were due to leave the ship. On our arrival we were met by a number of sporting enthusiasts, who saw us safely to our quarters in South Melbourne. They were too far away from the river, however, and we shifted to the Britannia Hotel. The secretary of Henley has been very good to us, and we' have been given every assistance.
"We got our boat off the Manuka on Monday after a lot of trouble with the Customs. We had it all rigged up in the afternoon and had our first spin to-day (October 12), and another in the afternoon. The boys are all fit and well, and from what* we have seen and heard we are hopeful that we will keep up the Dominion's reputation now we are safely settled in suitable quarters."
