TWO RECORDS BROKEN.
EXCEPTIONAL TIME IN HALF-MILE.
Another successful secondary school sports meeting was held at the Domain to-day, when the Auckland Boys' Grammar School contested their annual sports under ideal weather conditions. Large fields were the feature of tie meeting, while the competition in both the jumor and senior events was very keen The track, however, was a trifle dead for fast times, after the heavy fall of ram last evening, and in this respect toe competitors were not favoured as where the Sacred Heart lads, who held their annual sports meeting on the same ground yesterday afternoon. Stewart, it will be remembered, was a placed competitor in the Amateur' Road Race, of nfty miles from Mercer to Auckland organised a few weeks ago. Both lads' were m good trim, and put up wbnderful times for school boys. During the morning, which was devoted mostly to the deciding of the numerous heats, great excijieinent was "I th ° ****»- championship (open), when a boy named J. Watt broke his own record of 2m ll e made test year. His new time is 2m 6s. From the start it was evident that Watt was right out to smash his own record for he got the lead early and ran hard a l Z% n w ? 7 ' He came in to win by about 30yds from A. C. Garlick, who was forced to sprint hard in order to gain a second place. Garlick later broke a record in a sprint heat.
