AMERICA'S TEXTILE INDUSTRY.
REVIVAL OF TRADE. In view of the near approach of the New Zealand wool selling season, it is interesting to note that there is a better tone in the American textile industry. Messrs. John Dunn and Son, of New York, state, in a trade review dated September 13:—"Perhaps the most gratifying development of the month comes in reports of a revival of trade in the' textile industries. This is particularly true of the cotton section, but the woollen mills also are much better supplied with orders than for a long time, and though profits are not satisfactory, there seem to be possibilities of a radical improvement in tlii- n dustry, which has experienced during the past few years probably the most severe period of depression in its history." If this forecast is confirmed Americans may receive more elastic limits at the forthcoming wool sales.
