Appreciation of the work of the Takapuna Eire Brigade, formed less than two years ago. was expressed by a numbet of residents who attended the brigade's smoke concert on Friday cvcnine last. In proposing the toast to the brigade. Mr. W. liiomhehl paid that the engine had answered more than fifty calls, and in a number of cases the men had done very creditable work. Despite the handicap of a poor pressure water supply, the brigade had shown great zeal in their work, achieving excellent results. -<■
