AUCKLAND ROTARY CLUB.
—: — i WEEKLY LUNCH MEETING. The weekly lunch meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club to-day in the Unity Hall was as usual well attended, the president, Mr. W- Coltman, occupying the chair. j Amongst the visitors were:—Professor Condliffe (Canterbury College), Rev. L. M. Issitt, M.L.C., Rev. E. W. Coles (Wangan'ui). H. B. Phipps (Sydney), G. R. Brumley (Melbourne), D. H. Todd and A. D. Spiers (Wellington). and j C. D. M. Rosie (Gisborne). | The president stated that the date for commencing the next Dominion Rotarian conference, which is to be held in Auckland, had been tentatively fixed ' for March 1. Leave of absence was given to Rotarian A. F. Ellis, who leaves to-morrow on a visit to England. The speaker of the day was Mr. J. Merle Davis, secretary of the Institute of Pacific Relations, who delivered ari address on "The Pacific." Mr. Davis emphasised the importance which the problems of the Pacific held for NewZealand. At its conclusion, PYofessor Condliffe also drew attention to this aspect of the case and outlined the condition of the institute's work in the Dominion. A hearty vote of thanks to the speakers was moved by Mr. W. Holdsworth and was carried by acclamation.
