Nov -'■ — Cromwell J.C I'eter Maxwell has been turned out for a speli for a few weeks. It is stated that Royal Box is again in commission at Cambridge. He has not r,i"cd for a long time past. Brigh: Knight, who performed fairly well last season, is being got into racing trim by I. K. Wilson at Te Rapa. It is expected that he will be ready for spring racing. West Abbey has changed hands, and is now one of P. Brady's team at Te Rapa. He is among those engaged at Marton. Prinze Rufus, who is one of ¥. Tutchcn'o team at Frankton, is stated to be going on the right way in his work and will oe seen out in hurdle events early this season. Beth, Bennanee and Tiega are expected to leave Napier to-morrow for Feilding "to compete at the Marton meeting. The trio are reported to have been working well on the track. M. J. Carroll is taking Paganelli and Macroom to the Wanganui meeting. The former is by Lord Quex from Ringdove, and if breeding goes for anything this youngster should be able to gallop. Royal Tea appears as though, he will be seen to advantage when the big meeting comes on at Randwick in October. He has only had a couple of races this season and has run second in both of them. Oakleigh, who met with an accident in the hunting field a few weeks ago, has sufficiently recovered to be put into work again. • It is stated that he r3 likely to be seen racing again during the spring. Young Lochinvar continues to perform prominently in Sydney. He has won a couple of races, and on Saturday was third at the Rosehill meeting in Sydney. The seven furlongs was run in the faßt time of 1.355. Lupineel, who won at the Taranaki Hunt Club meeting on Saturday, has improved considerably since he raced at Ellerslie for he has won two Hunt Cups on end. He is evidently going to turn out a useful jumper this season. It looks as though Catmint will" be well represented this season. .In Auckland he has a good trio in Lomint, Danae and Chainour, while at the Taranaki Hunt meeting on Saturday Royal Mint (from Polly Perkins) won, and Mint Leaf (from Potona) was second to Pop Off. W. H. Dwyer, of Wanganui, has an attition to his team in the shape of a three-year-old filly by Limond from Hopeite. He has three two-year-olds in his stable, one being Liquation (HarrowLiquify), a colt by Nassau fr6m Spangle, and a filly by Nassau from Culross, therefore a full sister to Chairman. Royal Mint registered his first victory when he won the Opunake Handicap at the Taranaki Hunt meeting on Saturday. As a two-year-old the season before last he started on five occasions without getting into a place, while last season he faced the barrier on 23 occasions for two seconds and three thirds. Pendennis is among 'the regular workers at Te Rapa, and he will be seen out in hurdles and cross country events this season. Pendennis is a pretty good jumper, and as he is only a young horse, he should have a good future in front of him if he goes along all right. He won the Greenlane Steeplechase at the last Great Northern meeting. x Demure ricked a shoulder slightly at Wanganui .on Friday morning, but whether the trouble will be sufficiently serious to keep her out of her Wanganui engagements remains to be seen. It will be hard luck if she cannot race as she has improved greatly in appearance lately, and gave promise of showing something like. her best early in th* season. Reremoana (says "Vedette") IooKS better this season than he has ever done in his career. Previously he has had a rather dry coat, but this year he has a bright and blooming appearance apd is - not far short now of being at his Dest. It looks a 3 if the Eclipse Stakes at Wanganui is more or less at his mercy, unless Nigger Minstrel is produced right hack to his best. Ratapiko, who won a double at the Taranaki Hunt meeting on Saturday, is an aged gelding by Camflre. He finished third in the Hunters' Hurdles at the Egmorit Hunt meeting on Wednesday. He commenced racing as a three-year-old in the 1922-23 season, and previous to Saturday had only won one race, that "being the Makuri Hack Hurdles at the Stratford meeting last January, in which San Fera was second to him. "There are thirty acceptors in the Trial Plate at the Marton meeting on Wednesday, and if there are more than fifteen starters there will be two divisions. In 'this case a split race appears to be a certainty, and the divisions will be as follows: First Division.—Beth, Alloway,Dominion Rose, Jemidar, Arrow River, Climax, Tea Time, Waiforte, Hoy.-Dark-town, Orma, Gourmet, Archon, Alarm, Schorr. • Second Division. —Propeller, |taT Chamber, All Bright, Petal, Rising Star, Guadalquiver, Royal Time, Mountain Heath, Dale Ogden, Whititaua, Eibnar, Morehu, Takaroa, Risk, Ranee.

Killoch was useful early last season, and it looks as though she may be as good this season, fop she won nicely at the Taranaki meeting on Saturday. She is a full-sister to Tiega.

Pop Off, the relative to Pouma and I Yoma, has evidently struck form, for he has now won two events on end. He was successful at the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt meeting on Wednesday, and on Saturday won the Urenui Hack Handicap at the Taranaki Hunt meeting. NORTH TARANAKI HUNT. L.UPINEEL WIXS THE CUP.
