JAPAN DEFEATS CUBA. MONTREAL, August 22. Japan eliminated Cuba yesterday iv the Davis Cup contest. | Japan won in the first singles on Thursday. Harada and Tawara (Japan) defeated Paris and Chacon in the doubles on Friday, 6— l, 6 —3, 6 —2. The victory was largely due to Harada's brilliant placements, especially in advancing to the net. j In the final singles yesterday Tawara defeated Paris, 6 —2,"6—0, 6—2, and Toba defeated Banet, 6—2, 6—2, 6—3.
