A VARIETY OF CHARGES.
BROUGHT AGAINST YOUNG MAX.
A variety of charges was preferred against Clement Murphy (22) at the Police Court this afternoon, before Mr. J. W. Povnton, S.M.
He was charged with breaking and entering the shop of Wilfred Manning, Karangahape Road, and stealing 15/ in money, a cheque book and gooda of a total" value of £5 12/6: breaking and entering the shop of Frederick James Porter, Karangahape Road, and stealing a suit valued at £6 6/; breaking and entering the shop of H. M. Wade and Co., and stealing a gramophone and 20 records, valued at £11 9/- Accused was also charged on eight informations with obtaining goods of a total value of £26 17/ from various shopkeepers by means of false pretences —valulees cheques- In addition there was another charge of forging the name of H. R. Stowell to a cheque for £3 6/11- The hearing of evidence is proceeding.
