ONEHUNGA POLICE COURT.
(Before Mr. W. E. MeKean, S.M.) DANGEROUS DRIVING. •John Langford Gavey did not appear to answer a charge of driving a motor car at a dangerous weed. Sergeant J. A. Cruicks-hank said t:: ,, offence took place shortly after midnight on June 23 last, while he was examining marks on Manuka ii Road after a young man had been killed there in a collision. Several other people were present when a motor car suddenly appeared and passed them at a terrific rnte. Constable P. Jones said he estimated the speed at from 45 to 50 miles an hour. Defendant afterwards called at the Police Court and admitted that he was driving at 25 mile? an liour. He was convicted and fined £4 with 31/ cost?. TO CATCH A TRAIN. Harold Thomas Patten was driving a motor bus on -Time 30 along Manuknu Road, Epsoru, when he tried to cut in between a Inrry and a tram car. A scriOUS collision was averted by the motorman applying the emergency brake. Patten's excuse to the police was that a passenger wanted to catch the train and had asked him to hurry. He did not appear this morning to confirm this excuse., and was fined £2 with 7/ costs. DISOBEDIENCE. Henry Harlick was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment for failing to obey a maintenance order, the warrant to be suspended so long as he obeys the order and pays 5/ per week off the arrears, amounting to £S. Edgar Albert Howard was £43 in arrears with his weekly payments of ]£2 10/ to his wife. Mr". J. j. Sullivan i appeared for him and agreed to pay from 1 now to next Court day. September C, to I which date the case was adjourned. DARING THE POLICE. On August 1 last Bruce Worboys rode I his bicycle on the footpath in Queen Street right past the police station. A constable saw him., and his foolishness cost him 17/.
