T. M. WILSON WINS STEEPLECHASE AGAIN. The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club hPld another of their series of winter competitions on the Domain on Saturday. The weather was threatening throughfcit the meeting, but the attendance of enwas not lessened on this account. fVr a large crowd was present. The list of entries was also larger than on previous occasions. T. M. Wilson won the steepelechase of six circuits of the Domain, about four miles, in very creditable time. There were seven starters, Beauchamp getting away on fro. Perry and Scown on 3Os, Liekis on 60s, Swatton on 60s. and the two s<?ratch men. Wilson and Kells. on 120s. The end of the first round saw all competitors, excepting the two scratch men. in the straight, Beauchamp still retaining the lead. This order remained the same until the end of the third round, when two of the competitors had dropped out, and Wilson and Kells. who were gaining on the limit men rapidly, had accomplished half way in llm 525. thus gaining lmin 17sec on those in the lead. Swatton dropped out in the fourth found and during the fifth the scratch men. who were running together, over-took Beauchamp. but the latter, who wag running a very fine race, kept with them for some time but then dropped back, while Wilson and Kells. about a half round from home started to race hard neck and neck, and when about 200 yards from home Kells pulled some distance ahead and then with a wonderful dash Wilson caught him again and a great finish resulted in which Wilson won from Kells by about two yards. Kells lost this race mainly owing to his leaping, which was not to be compared with that of Wilson's. Beauchamp then finished soon after followed by Scown. both of whom ran good races.
