An American writer lias imeartlied a j eurioue genealogy; he declares that Mr. Volstead- of the famous prohibition amendment, is descended fr6m Shakespeare's Falstaff. The fat knight, according to this authority, fled from England . after a duel and settled in Germany, J where in the course of time his name ' was changed j first to Falstead, then to I Valsted', and. eventually became VolI stead. This surely is the irony of fate.
