NORTHCOTE'S MUNICIPAL INEFFICIENCY.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Allow mc to add a word to the timely statements of your correspondent "Ngunguru." The condition of Northcote roads is indeed shocking, but they arc in keeping with other borough affairs. Over- two years ago the ratepayers sanctioned a loan of £2100 to purchase and put in order the recreation ground in Stafford Road. Though this money lias been offered to the council, they simply refuse to go on with the work. The reserve is at present costing the ratepayers over £2 per week and only grows gorse. Our children have no recreation ground, and the boys who want to play cricket or football have to play on the street or go to the city. Some time back a team of boys approaehefl the Council for permission to play cricket on the reserve—even this was refused.—l am, etc., RATEPAYER.
