PATRIOTIC FUNDS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Will Sir James Gunson or any other gentleman connected with the Auckland Patriotic and War Relief Association justify through this column their action in employing a man as secretary who is not a returned soldier, in face of the fact that the fund was subscribed for the use of returned soldiers. If applications for the above post were invited from returned soldiers only, a special mail van would be required to convey them from the G.P.O. In my opinion there can be no justification in using patriotic funds for other purposes than that which they were intended by the people who generously subscribed to them.—l am, etc., JOHN BUTTERWORTH. Point Chevalier.
