COUNTRY RACING CLUBS.
REQUESTS TO GOVERNMENT.

WELLINGTON, Thursday. A deputation from country racing clubs waited on the Minister of Internal Affairs with regard to remits carried at the conference of country clubs. The Hon. Bollard said he had every sympathy with the country clubs, and was glad to assist them where he could. With regard to a £250 rebate on the totalisator tax, the legislation was promoted hurriedly, and was not final. Some amendment was to be made, and the matter was being gone into. With regard to the publication of dividends and the transmission of money to clubs, the Hon. Sir Edwin Mitchelson was introducing a bill, and it was for Cabinet to say whether it -vould be taken up as a Government measure. The question of relief to owners in regard to the transport of horses was one for the Minister of Railways. Eegarding the point; raised, it was suggested that the maximum rebate to clubs might be increased to £500, with a minimum to clubs with one day of £150.
