Prisoners sentenced at the Supreme Court this morning by Judge Ostler were:—Eric Roland Cherry (17), forgery at Wanganui, three years' reformative detention in the Borstal Institution; Frederick Norman Laylor Walker (19), breach of probation, a reformative period not exceeding three years; Neils Martin Olsen (31), conspiracy to defraud the Postmaster-General at Palmerston North, six months' imprisonment with hard labour; Mary Wilson (55), theft of a fur coat, six months' imprisonment with hard labour. TWO YEARS' PROBATION. (By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. Cecil Francis Jellie, who pleaded guilty yesterday to a charge of failure to account to his employer for £3 3/, motor tuition fees, was admitte. to probation to-day for two years, and ordered to repay the money within a month. YOUNG MAN ARRESTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ASHBURTON, this day. John Ronald Lynch, about 21 years of age, was arrested last night, and appeared at Court on two charges—first, breaking and entering the dwelling of Henry Clifford Percy on June 2-5 and stealing a bunch of keys, valued at 5/; secondly, breaking and entering Percy's shop and stealing £30. The police stated another charge is pending, and accused was remanded till Thursday. A PERJURY CASE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TDIARU, this day. At the Magistrate's Court, Victor Harris (28) pleaded guilty to a charge of perjury, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence, bail being refused. ALLEGED FRAUD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) OAMARU, this day. Two women, named Ada Birchall, alias May Birchall, and Phyllis Berrington,' alias Ida Hazel Sirchall, arrested on a warrant from Christchurch last night, were charged at the Police Court this morning with obtaining credit by fraud to the amount of £9, on March 13 from Margaret Eoach, of Christchurch. Other charges are believed to be pending. Accused were remanded to appear at Christchurch to-morrow.
