WAIKERIA BORSTAL INSTITUTE
The official visiting committee, comprising five local citizens, set up to periodically visit the Waikeria Borstal Institute, inspected the institution yesterday. Considerable interest has been taken by the committee in the invention of one of the inmates, who is apparently destined to attain high honours in the field of wireless, having already evolved a device that is claimed to be an infallible direction Under. So impressed were the committee that they considered tho question of instituting a wireless set at the institution, and thereupon donated £1 each towards a fund for same. The cost is estimated to be about £25, and it is hoped to raise the remainder by public subscription. In the ordinary course of events the set would cost between £40 and £00, but owing to the gonitis of the inmate mentioned above a number of essential parts are already available.
