A CAT THAT WAS A NUISANCE
MAN FINED FOR MISCHIEF
A man was charged at the Police Court this morning with committing mischief by injuring a cat, the police stating that defendant shot at the cat with an air gun, breaking its leg. He explained to the magistrate that the cat was a nuisance, and one that defendant could not keep out of his house. It was in the habit of going inside and jumping up on the table and tasting the meat and other eatables. When he caught it, it had its nose inside a milk jug. "You had no right to shoot at the cat anyway, said Mr. Poynton, in imposing a fine of £1 and costs.
