CITY BURGLARIES.

TWO CASES LAST NIGHT. A SAFE DYNAMITED. BIG ROBBERY AT CROTHALL'S. { By the manner in which a burglary was carried out at the factory of the Crothall Way Dyeing and Cleaning Co., in Eden Vale Road, Mount Eden, last night, it would appear that there are some expert cracksmen operating in the city. Mr. Crothall locked up the premises last night and made sure that everything was properly fastened. When the factory was opened this morning one of the employees soon discovered that burglars had paid a visit. Gaming entrance by a back window the burglars went to the office, the safe betPg opened, evidently by means of a skeleton key. Cash drawers in the safe were forced and bags containing cash were taken out and | ripped open, while five cabinet files were : thoroughly ransacked, the contents being | strewn across the floor. The till in the factory was also, forced and £3 stolen, stamps valued at 7/ being left untouched. Altogether the burglar, or burglars secured a little over £40 in cash. The intruders evidently left the factory by the front door, which could ' be opened from the inside. No traces of finger prints have yet been found, and it is thought that the burglary was carried out by an experienced man who used gloves on the job. Unsuccessful Attempt on Safe. The ofiice of L. Adams and Co. City Markets, was broken into last night, entrance being effected by a side window. Once inside the burglar immediately set j to work on the safe. This was damaged by a charge of gelignite, but was not opened.
