SUMMER SPORTS.

RACING LEADS THE WAY,

TENNIS A GOOD SECOND. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Monday. The annual statistics of summer sports does not show any difference in order from Drevious years. Horse racing in all forms" is still the most popular attraction, with galloping 17,007 members, and trotting 7158. " Tennis is next with 23,310, bowling 10,200, cricket (stated to he incomplete), 6670, as against 10,831 given last year; swimming 7120. Racing is practically the same as before, though hunt clubs are not included this year. Large increases arc shown in tennis and swimming, probably because the returns are more complete. Racing owners number 4903, trainers 1492, jockeys 1597 and horses 5142.
