MINE MANAGER'S REPORT. Moanataiari.—The mine manager reports that during the week the following work has been carried out : The east crosscut was advanced 20ft. total for contract 242 ft The country is still of the best description, and when quartz is met with there is every chance of getting gold No work has been dnne in the rise, as the men are required in fimberinc behind the contractors. New Waiotahi. — Tbe mine manager reports that tbe drive billward has been advanced 13 feet for the week, making the total distance of the crosscut 05 feet- The reef is wider than the drive, but w_at appears to be thp footwall is showing on the right-hand side. The reef is composed of oxidised quartz carrying splashes of silver sulphides. alon_ with bright minerals. The country rock is mild nndeslte. with black bands of fine grained iron pyrites striking into the footwall of tbe reef. A start has been made to sink a winze near to the point where the last blotches of strong gold were obtained from the footwall leader. The winze is going down between tbe main reef and the leader, the country being mild blue andesite. carrying nice mineral seams. Tbe drive seaward has been suspended, and the men employed in sinking the winze mentioned.
