SATURDAY'S LOAN POLLS.

REJECTION AT AVONDALE. HENDERSON MAJORITY OF ONE. I The loan proposals of the Henderson Town Board and of the Avondale Borough Council were not well received by the ratepayers' at last Saturday's polls. The first was carried by a mere majority of 1, while the other was definitely rejected. i The Henderson proposal was to raise £5500 for the building of a new Town Hall. Included in the scheme was pro vision for shops and offices, together with various conveniences. The term of the loan is 36J years, with a security rate of 1 1-Sd in" the f. Since out of the 437 ratepayers on the poll 240 voted, con-siderable-interest was shown at the poll. The details of the voting was as follow: For the proposal lIS Against 117 Majority in favour 1 The proposal of the Avondale Borough Council was to raise £3000 with whicn to supplement money voted some time ago for the carrying out of permanent improvements to the Manukau, New Windsor and White Swan Roads and Taylor Street. There was a security rate of Id in the £. Little interest was taken in the poll, but over fifty per cent of those ratepayers who did vote were opposed to the proposal.
