NEW APPOINTMENTS.

THE PREMIER'S DEPARTMENT. TWO NEW POSTS. CAPABLE OFFICERS. (By Telesraph.-Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, this day. The Premier announces the followmappointments to the newly constituted Prime Minister's Department:—Mr C A. Berendsen, LL.M., to Imperial Affairs Department; Mr. R. }L Cam bell, M__, LL.B., to the secretarialstaff. It is also announced that Mr. C A Jeffery, at present a member "of the Premier's secretarial staff, assumes tha position of chief secretary, jecentiv vacated by Mr. F. D. Thomson, now head of the Premier's Department. Mr. Campbell was born at Maungstapere, North Auckland, and educated at the Whangarei High School. He is <>S years of age. He joined the Education Department 12 years ago, and at>p re . sent is that department's statistical clerk. He graduated LL.B. at Victoria College in 1923, and obtained his ___ degree in 1925, with first-class honours in economics. This year he was awarded the Jacob Joseph research scholarshhj in economics. He is president of the Victoria College Students' Association, and chairman of the college debatir_ society. Mr. Berendsen was appointed chief clerk of the industrial unions in 1917 after his return from active service and has a sound knowledge of international law. He handles the correspondenca with the League of Nations.
