The qualifying rounds for the open golf championship were completed to-day. in the southern sections players with scores of 154 and under qualified, and in the central section players with scores of 155 and under. Excepting Howard, the Australian competitors, Kirkwood, Popplewell, Carnegie Clark and Sinclair, had the disadvantage of playing in heavy rain, but they made the best of the difficulties. The feature of the qualifying stage was the phenomenal brilliancy of Bobb\ Jones whom Varden, Taylor and Hilton describe as the greatest golfer of all time. The "Star" describes Bobbie Jones' play as the finest exhibition of golf in the whole history of the championship. He gave a magnificent example of unison of head, heart and hands.
