NEGLIGENT DRIVING.
A CAMBRIDGE MOTORIST.
LICENSE SUSPENDED.
.From Our Own Correspondent.)
CAMBRIDGE, Thursday.
Proceedings. arising out of a motor collision on the Hamilton-Cambridge Road on Saturday evening, May 1, occupied practically the whole of the day at the monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., to-day.
Voluminous evidence was given, the circumstances of the case being that on the evening in question Matthew Carroll,, of Cambridge, was driving homewards and when near the Water Tower partly collided with a car driven by a Maori. This deflected Carroll's direction, and, in coming back on to the crown'of the road again, he crashed into a car driven by E. Linstrum, of Cambridge.
On the charge of being intoxicated while in charge of his car, the magistrate held that the evidence was not sufficient to prove this charge against Carroll, and it was dismissed. The charge of negligence was* upheld, the magistrate being satisfied that it was owing to Carroll's faulty driving that tb» accident occurred. Defendant v.a_. ;';• ■•' Z'.'. rwl costs £3 5/, his license being suspended for twelve months.
