THE POLICE COURT.

HEAVY XIST TO-DAY.

THREE COURTS IN SESSION.

To-day was a big day at the Police Court. It was also a miscellaneous day, as in addition to the ordinary police and detective cases of a criminal nature, the Crown solicitor brought several cases; there were a series of prosecutions by the Acclimatisation Society, summons cases for breaches of the Arms Act and the Licensing Act, while quite a number of persons were dealt with for having unlicensed wireless stations.

In the latter cases the favourite excuse for not haying licenses seemed to be that "the battery had run out" and that tbe sets were dismantled. For these breaches fines ranging from 10/ to 40/ were inflicted. This afternoon many cases were still waiting to be heard, and it was found necessary to call upon two magistrates upstairs to assist in disposing of them.
