In the House of Commons the fact that much Russian money is coming , to help the British miners invested a special interest in Brigadier-General Sir H. P. Croft's question: ''What are the working conditions of the Russian coalminers?" Mr. G. R. Lane Fox, Minister of Mines, replied that the Soviet code laid down a six-hours day and 42-hours of continuous rest -weekly, but he understood the Russians actually worked eight and even ten hours a day, earning berween 25/ and 27/6 weekly. Therefore as regards both -wages and conditions the Russians were in a desperate condition compared with British miners.— (A. and X.Z.)
