NGUNGURU HOTEL.

APPLICATION REFUSED.

(Bγ Telejra^ih.—Own Correspondent.)

WHANGAREI, this day.

The question of an accommodation license for the Ngunguru Hotel was decided this afternoon at the annual meeting of the Marsden Licensing Committee. The original hotel at Ngungnru was burnt down in 1924, since when no new building has been erected. Although repeated application has been made for renewal of the license, optional sites being suggested, police opposition has been consistent, that such a license could not be granted for premises that flid not exist. To-day Mr. W. A. Curruth. on behalf of Mr. C. Grogan, •eked for an expression of opinion from the bench that if suitable premises were erected would the license then be granted, as his client was not in a position to proceed without some such assurance.

Witnesses were examined in support of the application. Inspector Hollis said the Department ■R-as opposing the issue of a license as being unnecessary.

After a short* retirement the committee announced that they were in agreement that the application could not be granted a≤ the license was not required in this neighbourhood. An application by F. Paget Jones, of Auckland, for a license for the Kamo Springs property, was withdrawn, pendln J? possible arrangements being madp with the Whangarei Hospital Board regarding tiie transfer of the property.
