TE PUKE. A meeting was held In McDowell's hall on Monday evening, when it was decided to form a choral society. Mr. K. Fronde was appointed president and conductor, Mr. C. Anderson pianist. Rev. J. U. Andorsou vice president. Mr. 11. 0. Cooney patron, Mr. It. Urqnliart secretary. A committee consisting of Misses Watson and Kennedy, Messrs. Knight, Brownlee, Va.rrell. Watson and Sharp was elected.

The football match played on Saturday between the United Club and Pongak.iwa. Club resulted in a draw, 3 all, after a stiff contest.

TAURANGA

In his report to the annual meeting of tbe Taurauga Tourist Traffic League, tlie president (Mr. A. J. Merrk*lees>, stated that ou :i .1000-miles tour of the Dominion last summer, he npver once saw anything to advertise the district, in spite of the fact that no other town has such natural beauty and environment as Tauranga. The Marino Department had sent officers to confer with regard to matters in connection with the licensing and equipment of boats for the Mayor Island deep sea fishing, and there was every prospect of the sport there attracting numbers of enthusiasts. It was esential that creator efforts should be made to cater for this traffic. A credit balance of £27 2/5 remained at Mio close of the period to May 1-f. 1020. Mrikle said that he wished to lie relieved of the duties of secretary to the Deep Sea Fishing Club, which is a branch of tlie league, and it was resolved that letters of inquiry be handed to Mr. Munro to deal with.
