OPENING DAY TO-MORROW.

A SPLENDID EXHIBITION.

MANY NEW FEATURES

More than ordinary interest is being taken in the Auckland Winter Exhibition, which will be opened to-morrow 'afternoon at two o'clock at the Princes wharf sheds, and be continued until Saturday, June 19. This year the entries are record in number, and all the available space has been booked. The spacious wharf sheds were a scene of great activity this morning, a small arc*: ot workers being engaged in ft tting the mauy. exhibits arranged in order to show I them off to the best advantage. The ■exhibition has been promoted jpintly by the Agricultural and Pastoral Association and the Provincial Industrial Association, who haye arranged many new features to make the show both attracjtive and educative to the public. For the district courts' competition there are entries from the Thames, Franklin, Te Kuiti, and Te Aroha disItriets, and judging by the fine dilplays being staged this morning the competition will be exceedingly keen. Fruit and produce will be featured in all the courts as evidence of the productivity of the districts concerned, while in the case of the Te Aroha exhibit, attention will be drawn to the scenic and thermal attrac- ; tions of that district. ! In connection with the exhibition, the New Zealand butter and cheese championships will be held. There are 46 entries for the Dominion butter championship, and all the leading factories in the North Island are represented. There are 35 entries for the Dominion cheese championship. In the competitive classes for produce it is interesting to note that a number of the country schools are competing, while in the home industries division the large number of entries received indicate spirited competition. The industrial section will take up a large portion of the available space, and the manifold exhibits should prove moat interesting to visitors. Arrangements have been made on a big scale for the entertainment. Orchestral programmes will be given at all afternoon sessions, and at the evening sessions. In addition to orchestral music, there will be concert parties, dancing, and other attractions. -, Arrangements have been made with the ; Auckland Power Board for lighting on a lavish scale, and the exhibition during the evening sessions will be very spectacular.
