UNEMPLOYMENT.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —K.B.G. says that in a rich country like this, why should the people go whining to the Premier for help for the unemployed? Is he aware that this rich little country is encumbered with a national debt of, I think, over £22S,00O,0OO? Any fair-minded person ought to know that the Prime Minister was not dictated to. K.B.G.'s ideal of the well-to-do folks helping the unemployed by contributing a weekly sum is wrong. The unemployed want work, not charity, and it would be much better if a day's work were given to these men at a reasonable wage. If any person wants to give a few shillings weekly, it is not hard to find someone in need, out of over a thousand unemployed. —I am, etc., COMMON* SENSE.
