. - i NEW PLYMOUTH MEMBERS. . c ENTERTAINED IN AUCKLAND. * f Twenty-eight members of the New t Plymouth Savage Club, headed by the Ranj*atira, Brother C. H. Wyatt, came to * Auckland during the week-end, to visit c their brother Savages in this city. They t were welcomed in royal fashion at the I meeting in the Scots Hall on Saturday \ evening. Mr. Wyatt presided and tbe g visitors provided a very good pro- } gramme, which included a stirring haka, * led by Mr. Atua. c A presentation of an historic taiaha t or Maori spear was made to the Auck- J, land club by Mr. Atua, who is a chief * of the Parehaka tribe, on behalf of the New Plymouth Club. This Taiaha has a very interesting history, and was carried by one of the chiefs who was present at the signing of the treaty of Waitangi. Yesterday, the Rangatira (Mr. Harry ' McCoy), and members of the Auckland executive, entertained the visitors for the day. In the morning, they were motored about Auckland, after which they were taken to Takapuna and lunched at the Mon Desir Hotel. In the afternoon, some of the guests visited the home of Sir Henry Brett, to admire the beautiful gardens. After a very pleasant afternoon, the party returned to town, via Northcote.
