MINOR OUTBREAKS.

» . FOUR SMAIX FIRES. CITY AND SUBURBAN FLARES. There were four minor outbreaks of fire in the city and suburbs over the : week-end. ! The City Brigade was called out shortly before nine o'clock yesterday morning to a fire in two houses separated by a concrete partition at 65, and 67, Ponsonby Road. The first house was occupied by Mrs. J. Beaumont and the second by Mr. J. Ellingham. The) outbreak was due to a leak in the gas pipe. The occupants were looking for the leak with a candle when the gas caught fire. The flames were put out after the lining boards had been slightly I burned. The fusing of an electric cable at the foot of Shortland Street shortly after 4 o'clock yesterday morning called the City Brigade out". No damage was done. Fire in Onehunga. Fire occurred at 4 o'clock this morning in a building in Queen Street, Onehunga, occupied by the N.Z. Roads, Ltd., as a garage. The outbreak appeared to have started in the back of the premises, and had a good hold when the alarm was given. The brigade had the flames under control in a short time. Two road tractors in the building were damaged considerably. A number of explosions were heard during the blaze. After the flames were suppressed, several tins of benzine were found intact. The property of the N.Z. Roads, Ltd., was insured under a general cover for its property throughout the Dominion. The insurance on the building, which was owned by Mr. J. Lyon, of Auckland, was not known. Tlie Onehunga brigade was called at 7 p.m. yesterday to a motor cycle Which had caught fire near the Manffere Bridge. The flames were extinguished before the brigade arrived. The Mount Albert brigade received a false alarm iust after nine o'clock last evenin?. This is the ninth false alarm received from the same box during the past few months.
