GAME OF ROLL DOWN.
DEFECTIVES V. EXPERTS,
MAGISTRATE A SPECTATOR,
WELLINGTON, Saturday.
In connection with the prosecution of Harold P. Bishop and Alfred Dawson for conducting a game of roll ddwn, Mr. Page, S.M., visited their premises to-day and watched a contest between two players who were called by the defence yesterday, and two detectives. Press representatives were admitted at the instigation of the magistrate after refusal by the defendants.
Playing with wooden balls two experts won lifteen and tied in one game out of 24 with detectives, who rolled with heads averted, playing with billiard balls. The detectives and one pressman, under the same conditions, won six out of 2S games against three experts. In a game for all present a detective and another made the possible score, and tlie detective won the play-off. The magistrate stated that he would give a written decision next week.
