a KEEN DEMAND FOR CHOICE BEEF. X.Z.L.M. REPORT. The* New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report: "At our weekly Westfield fat stock sale to-day beef was penned in large numbers, mostly of cow and heifer beef. Competition for choice and prime ox was again very keen, and values for this were firmer. Owing to the large entries of cows and heifers the values for these were lower. "Extra choice ox sold to 32/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox. 28/ to 31/; ordinary cow beef. 10/ to 22/; rough beef, 14/ to 18/: extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £13 17/6 to £14 7/6; heavy prime steers, £12 10/ to £13 15/; lighter primp steers, £11 to £12 5/; light prime steers. £0 7/ to £10 17/6: unfinished and small. £.5 17/6 to £8 17/6; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £8 to £0 5/: heav-v prime vounz cows and heifers. £6 15/ to £7 17/6: lighter, £5 10/ to £6 12/ C: other cows, £2 10/ to £4 5/; bulls £2 to £5 15/.
