At the annual meeting of the Auckland Licensing Committee to-day. the chairman, Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., drew attention to a clause in the police report recommending the fitting of fire alarms in hotels. It was mentioned that an alarm had been installed at the Waverley and Mr Cutten stated that the committee approved of the recommendation, as far as the larger hotels were concerned, and desired that other licensees should inspect the Waverley system. It was stated by counsel that the hotelkeepers were conferring in regard to this matter.
